Remeber

God is good. There is no valid denial to this truth. Often, do invalid denials come into our hearts, seeping in like sewage in order to steal our joy and batter our faith. There is a very common theme in the Old Testament that helps us always remember the goodness of God. In fact, it's almost everywhere in the Old Testament. “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.” (Exodus 20:2). And again, “be careful that you do not forget the LORD, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.” (Deuteronomy 6:12). And so on, “for the Lord our God is He who brought us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and who did these great signs in our sight and preserved us through all the way in which we went and among all the peoples through whose midst we passed.” (Joshua 24:17). And of course, “and he said to the sons of Israel, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘I brought Israel up from Egypt, and I delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the power of all the kingdoms that were oppressing you.’” (1 Samuel 10:18). And who can forget, “But the Lord, who brought you up from the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm, Him you shall fear, and to Him you shall bow yourselves down, and to Him you shall sacrifice.” (2 Kings 17:36). Need I go on further? We are called to remember the day we were saved, the day where we went from death to life. As the story of the prodigal son says, “For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.” (Luke 15:24). And even in this new life, there are many times where we feel dead. Many times where we have relapsed and tried to build back again what was once destroyed at the cross. Yet this does not change the truth of God. He has indeed redeemed us, bought us back with the price of His own precious blood. He is our kinsman redeemer. Don’t lose sight of this.
